Artist and Illustrator Anne Corless works in different areas across the creative arts. She has a strong interest in wildlife art and artwork of the natural world and her studio is often full of art and illustrations, inspired by her travels. A keen plein air painter and urban sketcher Anne also enjoys sharing her love of art, teaching creative skills at events, on art holidays and on cruise ships. Anne is an experienced cruise ship art instructor, with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines.
Anne often returns to favourite venues as Artist in Residence; running art workshops/ teaching live on air and working on outside broadcasts; at BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC Radio Merseyside. Anne is a regular visitor as Artist in Residence at Derwent’s “magical” Pencil Museum in the Lake District and has taught/ demonstrated at Nature in Art in Gloucestershire and at Patchings' Art Festival. She has given a BBC Arts Master Class on portrait painting to an invited audience live on air at BBC Radio Lancashire and has taught art workshops; for Derwent and Leisure Painter/ The Artist magazines. More recently Anne taught a live art workshop and separately filmed an art demonstration video, for John Lewis & Partners, in collaboration with Derwent and the National Trust.
A keen writer, Anne enjoys writing about the world of fine art for art magazines and blogs. With an interest in the ‘business side of art’ Anne has given talks for the Fine Art Trade Guild; at the Spring Fair International at the NEC, at Art and Framing Conventions and Making Pictures events and has represented the Guild at Wessex Art and Framing Roadshows.
Anne is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild and sat on the Fine Art Committee of the Guild for ten years (five years as Chair). She also served as North West Branch Master of the Guild for 3 years. In May 2022 she was honoured to be inducted into the Fine Art Trade Guild Hall of Fame. She is a founder member, former Chair for four years and Honorary Life Member of the Association of Animal Artists (UK), a Signature member of Artists for Conservation and a professional member of the Association of Illustrators (UK).
Anne also enjoys a career as a Registered Medical Illustrator and is on the Academy of Health Sciences Register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. With a background in nursing and midwifery (Registered Nurse/ Registered Midwife), a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Design (specialising in scientific and natural history illustration) and a postgraduate qualification (MAA) in medical art she works with clients from around the world. She is a professional member of the Medical Artists Association (UK) and the Association of Medical Illustrators (USA).
